REMEDI HEALTH now offers a comprehensive pharmacogenomics testing service.
Pharmacogenomics combines the science of drugs (pharmacology) and the study of genes and their functions (genomics) to understand what are effective and safe medications for you.
Particular genes in our DNA influence how well a drug works for you, and whether you will experience any side effects. Our genes affect how we absorb, metabolise, distribute and excrete a drug. They also affect drug targets within our bodies such as receptors, enzymes and ion channels (proteins which allow molecules to enter and leave a cell).
Identifying variations in these genes that affect how your body will respond to many common medicines will help predict which drug and dose is best suited for you.
Because our genes hardly change throughout our lifetime a pharmacogenomics test only needs to be done once.

Your appointment
Your appointment involves us taking a mouth swab which is then sent to the laboratory for testing. We normally receive your report in 20 working days.

At your initial consultation we will discuss the test process and its benefits with you. This will include a full history taking and understanding of your needs.
We allow 30 minutes for this initial consultation so that we can take the swab in the same appointment. The fee for this initial consultation is £60, payable on booking.
The cost for the actual test is £275 and the follow-up consultation £60, making a total cost of £395 for your test. The balance is paid when you are in clinic.

Your results
Once completed, we take care of the whole process. Your results will normally be available within 2o working days and we will contact you to make your follow-up appointment to discuss the results.
