Blood Pressure

At REMEDI HEALTH in Winchester, we believe your blood pressure is an important indicator of future health.

Left untreated, high blood pressure can increase your risk of developing a number of serious long-term health conditions, including coronary heart disease. Having high blood pressure can increase your risk of having a heart attack or stroke. You also risk damaging the blood vessels in your kidneys or eyes.

High blood pressure is often related to unhealthy lifestyle habits, such as smoking, drinking too much alcohol, being overweight and not exercising enough.

At REMEDI HEALTH,  we take your blood pressure, can help you with home monitoring and advise you on how to reduce your blood pressure.

About this service

Blood pressure is a measure of the force that your heart uses to pump blood around your body.

Blood pressure is measured in millimetres of mercury (mmHg) and is given as 2 figures:

  • systolic pressure – the pressure when your heart pushes blood out
  • diastolic pressure – the pressure when your heart rests between beats

During your appointment we will understand more about your blood pressure to date, any medication you might be on, and take a minimum of 3 readings.

These readings will be shared with you so that you can pass them onto your GP or other healthcare provider, or keep for your own records.

If necessary, we can recommend further blood tests. We also stock a range of validated blood pressure machines for use at home.
