Book a COVID-19 Day 2 Green List Test
Please use the approprate calendar to book your day 2 test which can be sent by post or performed in our Winchester clinic. Choose the booking option that best suits your requirements. If choosing the post option, pick a time on your day of arrival in the calendar. This does not need to be your actual time of arrival.
The day 2 test can be performed any time from arrival in the country up until and including day 2. Please note that the day of arrival is day 0. For example, you arrive back on Sunday. Day 1 is Monday and day 2 is Tuesday. You can take your test on Sunday, Monday or Tuesday.
Once you have booked your day 2 test, we will contact you by email with the unique number for your Passenger Locator Form. We will respond as quickly as possible within clinic hours.
The day 2 postal test is £150.00 and for the in-clinic option £195.00. This test can also be used for a fit to fly certificate for an additional administration fee of £30 (payable in clinic).
We provide day 2 tests for those returning from a green country or for those returning from an amber country who will not be here for day 8.
If arriving from an amber listed country and here for the full quarantine period, please visit our webpage for that service.
Our Winchester clinic has rigorous infection control measures in place to protect both you and our staff. Do NOT attend if you are experiencing any COVID19 symptoms. Contact us so that we can agree how to support your testing requirements.
FAQs – testing during quarantine
Arriving back in the country and understanding what is required can be confusing and so we hope to help you so that you book the right testing package and at the right time to be compliant with the UK Government requirements.
Q: Why do I have to have these tests?
A: It is important that the spread of coronavirus and especially that of different variants is contained as much as possible. The UK Government has put this testing process in place for all arrivals to reduce the risk of variants coming into the country.
Q: Does this requirement for quarantine and testing apply to people travelling to Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales?
A: There are different requirements in each of the devolved nations and so you should following the advice for the specific country
Q: The different tests are confusing! What tests must I get and which ones are optional?
A: Everyone travelling into England from outside the Common Travel Area must take a coronavirus test and get a negative result during the 3 days before travel. This can be a PCR or antigen test. Everyone must also book and pay for a travel test package depending on whether they are arriving from a Green List country or Amber List country. If coming in from being in an Amber List country in the last ten days then you can opt to shorten your quarantine by taking an optional test on day 5 (Test to Release). This test, if negative, will enable you to leave quarantine.
Q: Do children need to be tested?
A: Children under 5 do not need to take the day 2 or day 8 test.
Q: What will happen if I don’t have the tests on day 2 and 8?
A: Providing false or deliberately misleading information when filling out your passenger locator form is an offence punishable by imprisonment. You could be fined up to £10,000, imprisoned for up to 10 years or both if you do not provide accurate details about the countries you have visited in the 10 days before you arrived in the UK. If you break the quarantine rules, you may face a penalty of up to £10,000. If you do not take the tests, you may face a penalty of up to £2,000.
Q: When is day 2?
A: The day you arrive in England is counted as day zero (0). If you arrive, for example, on Tuesday then your first day of quarantine is Wednesday and second day is Thursday. You can have your day 2 test on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday in this example. This first test is designed to help identify any potentially harmful variants of COVID-19 at the earliest opportunity.
Q: What happens if I test positive for either test?
A: If you test positive for either test you must quarantine for a further 10 days from the day after you took the test – you will receive further advice alongside your test results. If your test shows that you have a variant of coronavirus known as a ‘variant of concern’, you will get a further call and your contacts will be asked to be tested.
Q: Where can I find out more about day 2 and day 8 testing?
A: Visit https://www.gov.uk/guidance/how-to-quarantine-when-you-arrive-in-england
Ending quarantine early
Test to release
You can still use the Test to Release for international travel scheme. The scheme lets you choose to pay for a private COVID-19 test. If the result is negative, you can stop quarantining.
You cannot take a test until you have been in England for 5 days.
The scheme is voluntary and applies to those quarantining in England only.
If you do not want to opt into the Test to Release scheme, you will need to self-isolate for 10 days.
You cannot use the Test to Release scheme if you have been in or through any country that is on the travel ban red list in the 10 days before you arrive in England. Test to Release is appropriate for those returning from an amber list country.
If you’re planning to use the Test to Release scheme, you must still take a test on or before day 2 and on or after day 8, unless you’re exempt. Even if you get a negative result from your Test to Release and are released from self-isolation, you still need to take a test on or after day 8 to check that you do not have COVID-19.
1. We will not be able to take responsibility for calculating the time when you need to have your tests. However, we will do all we can to help.
2. Please do not visit the clinic if you have current COVID19 symptoms. We can drop the kit off at you for self-use if required or perform the test at your home. Please contact us for more details.
3. There are no refunds for the day 2 and 8 package unless proof of not travelling is provided. In this instance the fee will be refunded less an administration fee of £20.00. If a package has been purchased and a client does not complete day 8, then there will be no refund.
4. From 06 April 2021, we are able to sell day 2 and 8 separately. This is relevant for people who are not requiring day 8 tests as they are only in the UK for a short period of time. Please contact the clinic for more information.
